Changi at Midnight

I've been here in Singapore for 1.5 hours. The flight was very comfortable: Singapore Airlines is wonderful. I had an aisle seat in the middle bank of three in the back cabin. My two seat mates were a married couple so if she wanted to get out, she made her husband move and I didn't have to. Had several snoozes but I'm waiting for the next flight to eat, have a glass of wine and then snuggle down hopefully for a big sleep.

I get to Copenhagen about 6.30am, so a good sleep will set me on their time. I won't be able to check into the hotel till at least lunchtime, I imagine, so I'll be exploring till then. After all the yummy airoplane food I certainly won't be hungry! Hopefully the hotel has a luggage storeroom. Getting this internet access was a pain but it meant that altogether I've probably walked 2km since I got here - which is a really good idea anyway after the long flight, although we got here more than 40 mins earlier than scheduled.

Not long now and they'll open the gate and I can get into the next phase of the adventure. By the way, the landing was the softest I've probably ever experienced in a big plane; these 777's are huge and we didn't even have any of that awful shock braking. I think the next one might be the A380, not sure.

Gate’s open: off to join the queue.
